How to choose an Orbita Watch Winder
When choosing a watch winder, you not only want to consider how many watches you need wound, but also what features are most important to you. All Orbita watch winders are programmable for watch turns per day, winding direction, and auto-reverse, with the exception of the Sparta, which operates in a swinging motion. Following is a description of six Orbita families, from the economical Sparta to the ultimate watch collector's series, the Bergamo.
1. The Sparta Winder
The Sparta series is an extremely affordable choice for one or two watches. Its efficient design allows a battery life of at least 2 years. A servomotor powers the first oscillation in a 10-minute cycle with the following oscillations powered completely by gravity. Sparta winders come free-standing or with a lift-top case. The new version of the Sparta features an improved engine, offering the choice of either 10-minute or 15-minute intervals between oscillation cycles. The 15-minute setting offers additional battery life.
2. Bellino
The Bellino series, designed for single watches, is noted for its compact size and versatility. It is fully programmable and operates with either batteries or plug-in AC power. Battery life is at least 1 year. The Bellino also features a low battery indicator light, as well as a snap-in magnifying lens for easy viewing.
3. Murano
The Murano series is the perfect programmable watch winder for 1 or 2 watches. Like the Bellino, it operates with either batteries or plug-in AC power and comes with a low battery indicator light. The glass on the lift-up top provides optimal viewing and a nice display.
4. Siena
The Siena distinguishes itself from the Murano with its independently programmable heads. While the Murano 2 operates with one motor, each head in the Siena 2 and Siena 3 has a motor of its own, allowing each watch its own winding direction and speed of movement. The Siena 4 operates with two motors and two dual watch holders. Extra space in the case may be used to store watch straps or jewelry. The sloped top and beveled glass make for a grand display case. The Siena also features a low battery indicator and a lock.
5. Monaco
The Monaco, which can hold from 3 to 6 watches, is a perfect choice for the serious watch collector. With independently programmable heads, each watch's winding cycle can be optimized for peak efficiency. A universal digital Atomic Clock receives radio waves each evening and automatically corrects its indicated time with less than 1 second per year error. The Atomic Clock can receive radio signals from the USA, Europe, and Japan. Additional features include a built-in storage drawer and spring-retained lift-up doors, both fitted with gold plated locks. The Monaco may be powered by batteries (with a low battery indicator) or AC.
6. Bergamo
The Bergamo series is the ultimate watch winder for 9-24 watches. The Bergamo 24 can wind up to 24 watches independently. The handcrafted Italian cabinet that showcases the watches combines wood and metal inlays for a stunning display. It is finished in Madrona Burl veneer, but can also be ordered in Mahogany Parquet or Brazilian Rosewood. The Bergamo 12 and Bergamo 9 hold fewer watches, but maintain the same level of performance. Both the Bergamo 24 and Bergamo 12 also feature a full width suede-lined pull-out drawer for storing watches, jewelry, and related watch documents.
