Background

The legendary Romulus by CORUM, returns in a splendid new royal garment crafted from solid gold and interpreted in a classic design radiating an elegant strength that fascinates at first glance. The delicate satin-brushed finish of the bezel sets off the hand-engraved Roman numerals to sublime effect.

The "wave" profile of its bezel creates the impression of an undulating elliptical shape, smoothly integrated with the exceptionally ergonomic lines of a superbly elegant case and accentuated by the sloping lugs ensuring an extremely pleasant feel on the wrist.

Such a creation calls for the use of the most efficient cutting-edge technologies, combined with the unique know-how inherited from the master-watchmakers of Haute Horlogerie. Each component requires a large number of finishing operations. The entire circumference of the "wave" bezel is engraved with a perfectly polished longitudinal groove.

The shaped sapphire crystal, cambered on top, curved below and featuring an anti-reﬂective coating, protects a black or grey dial adorned with a sunray-guilloché motif radiating out from the centre of the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock with its gold appliques arranged on three levels. The main dial, graced with 3 gold appliques, also features a rectangular aperture a 3 o’clock displaying the date, while the applied-gold CORUM brand-name and its famous key logo appear at 12 o’clock. Water-resistant to 3 atm (30 meters), the case-back is secured by six screws and fitted with a glare-proofed sapphire crystal enabling one to admire the oscillating weight of the self-winding movement decorated with a guilloché "Côtes de Genève" finish and engraved with the name CORUM.

Beneath this remarkably beautiful and exquisitely finished exterior beats the heart of an exceptional movement meeting the highest standards of Haute Horlogerie: a 28,800 vph twin-barrel Piguet caliber with a power reserve of up to 72 hours! The surfaces and bevels on the bridges and plates are hand-chamfered, before being diamond-polished and rhodium-plated.

This Romulus watch in 5N (rose) or white gold is worn on a full-grain hand-sewn black crocodile leather strap with 100% square scales, complete with a stylized CORUM 18K classic pin buckle featuring a unique design; or on an 18kt gold bracelet with satin-brushed links contrasting with the brilliant-polished outer edges and secured by a gold folding clasp equipped with a double lateral pushbutton safety-fastening mechanism. Each version is conceived as a harmonious whole according to dedicated CORUM techniques and designs that are exclusive to each model.
