Trainmaster Cleveland Express

BALL Watch Company was founded to standardize time for the United States railroads. In recognition of our illustrious past we are proud to present our latest addition, the Trainmaster Cleveland Express, a classic chronometer. In designing this watch we used, as inspiration, a Ball 8-day power reserve vintage desk timepiece produced circa 1930.

The Cleveland Express was a high-speed route on the New York Central Railroad connecting the busiest city in the United States with the headquarters of BALL Watch Company in the then-bustling Midwest. It ran faithfully several times a day for the first half of the 20th century.

Clad inside the refined Trainmaster watchcase is a COSC certified automatic movement. The superb accuracy of the watch echoes the pursuit of precision that lies at the core of our brand spirit. The influence of the BALL vintage desk timepiece takes form in the numerals and the use of the minute track punctuated with hour markers. The hour markers are BALL’s renowned self-powered micro gas tubes that enable unparalleled night reading capability.

The slightly domed dial, finished with a radiant sunray pattern, catches light from every angle. Its simplicity sets a perfect platform to display the contrasting metal numerals. The 0.4mm thick Arabic hour indexes give a substantial feel and a three-dimensional aspect. The slicing and polishing process of the metal was a true technical challenge which was only resolved with exceptional craftsmanship and our passion for perfection.

Finished with a genuine crocodile leather strap, the Trainmaster Cleveland Express comes in a stainless steel case with a rose gold version to follow. Fundamentally, it represents the very essence of BALL railroad timepieces at their best.
