Earlier in the week, we shared live pictures of the Nomos Glashütte Tangente 38 for Topper Fine Jewelers 75th Anniversary. If no strap request is made, the watch comes with a medium length black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap. Over the next few weeks we will showcase the watch on straps made by some of our favorite independent strap makers, but first here are pictures of the watch on a selection of OEM Nomos straps that Nomos thought went well with the color scheme of this piece.

Before we get to the photos, a few thoughts about strap size for the watch. The Nomos website provides a convenient online Strap Advisor that will recommend strap size based on your wrist size and watch selection. In choosing a strap length, you may also want to consider your particular preference for fit and how much of the strap tail you like extending past the keepers.

Below are the strap sizes and respective lengths for all OEM Nomos straps. For the purposes of the size table, "long part" means the tail side, and "short part" means buckle side.

  • Size XS: long part 95 mm, short part 60 mm
  • Size S: long part 105 mm, short part 70 mm
  • Size M: long part 118 mm, short part 75 mm
  • Size L: long part 128 mm, short part 85 mm
  • Size XL: long part 140 mm, short part 95 mm

Though your strap size preferences may vary, the Strap Advisor recommends the following strap sizes by wrist sizes:

  • Size XS: Under 6.25 inches
  • Size S: Between 6.25 and 7.0 inches
  • Size M: Between 7.0 and 7.8 inches
  • Size L: Between 7.9 and 8.7 inches
  • Size XL: Above 8.7 inches

For example, my wrist is right at seven inches, and I've been wearing a medium length strap since I recieved the watch last Friday. Even on the last hole of the strap, it is still one or two holes too large. I could have my jeweler poke a few extra holes in the strap, but then the tail will be too long, and it will be too high on the other side. Size small is perfect for my wrist.

The Nomos Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan straps retail for $110, and the Nomos Velour Leather options are priced at $70.

Below are additional pictures of the watch on the Nomos suggested OEM straps.
